The trapped chest is (mostly) there to serve as an example of "just because you can interact with it doesn't mean you always should". The 16 pounder can easily bring at least a couple of your characters to Death's Door with just a single hit.A) It's a tutorial. If the RNG turns against you and you can't kill nor stun the matchmaker, the safest option is to attempt to retreat and start again. If you use the Grave Robber to kill him with Thrown Dagger, your GR will soon have a permanent buff to her accuracy that will guarantee very few misses. If you miss with your first shot or do not inflict enough damage to oneshot him, you'll have a second chance later. That's why it's imperative that no matter what order your characters act in, the first DPS to act should always target the Matchman. Ideally the Matchman should die in just one hit but sometimes you will miss. I equipped both DPS with +Damage Trinkets (vs Humans or globally). I favored ranged DPS because it makes easier reaching the Matchman when he is stationed in the fourh slot. I went in with a Man-at-Arms, Grave Robber, Vestal, Arbalest party. My second attempt went very well mostly because I decided to be less sloppy in preparing. My first try ended in tragedy (I lost my legendary vestal and retreated) for the same reason. If I could do it again, I'd do that from the start but debuff the other two bandits' damage. In the end, I won by focusing down the cannon and matchman and ignoring the other two bandits. Matchman DODGED, cannon fired, fotunately for me it misfired (*phew!*). I was using a camp buffed Abomination to rake the heck out of it, but that was very dangerous as I didn't bring a hellion to help kill the matchman.
